Our programmes are designed to equip students with a blend of knowledge, skills and values in order to be successful agents of change in the world.
This Global Skills in English Summer School is a Global Skills focused programme where English language teaching is integrated into all sessions. This programme is for students who wish to improve their English language ability.
Whilst the morning academic sessions are separate to our Global Skills International Summer School students, all other summer school content is shared with students attending both Global Skills in English and Global Skills International options living together, eating together and fully mixed together for all Afternoon Activity Sessions, Sports and Social Programmes as well as off-site Excursions.
Life outside the classroom
We believe that learning happens as much outside the class as inside. We pride ourselves on the variety of co-curricular activities on offer, ensuring that there really is something to excite and stimulate everyone. These experiences are not just fun and a change from the classroom, but also a great opportunity to try new things, learn new skills and develop independence of thought and action.
This splits into three main areas:
- Afternoon Activity Sessions – these include a range of academic, art, sport and vocation-related subjects with each option lasting one week. You select your choices during enrolment and most options are included in the course prices, but a few have an additional fee.
- Sports and Social Programme – in addition to our structured educational programmes, these are designed to entertain, engage and provide social activities. There is a wide range of choices available.
- Excursions – these off-site trips happen twice a week and all students attend. Some are educational, and include trips to museums, zoos, stately homes or historic castles. Others are for sight-seeing, and typically include trips to local tourist attractions, theme parks and shopping centres.
Academic excursions are linked to these academic sessions and are an integral part of the summer school programmes. For example, if a class is going to visit the Tower of London, their learning objectives might involve researching the history of the Tower or debating the ethics of monarchies.
